Lower weight, increased process reliability - Flexible sleeves replace rigid studs!

Less can often be more. This philosophy has driven the development of SPLITFAST. And, as is often the case, a return to engineering first principles produces simple and convincing ideas, which drive innovation. This is the story of SPLITFAST.What real purpose is there in using solid studs, if in fact the only support element required for the gravity-actuated fastening of different components is the outer wall of the stud itself? We considered the question, we analyzed the problem, and we created SPLITFAST.

Less Weight!
SPLITFAST offer a 50 % weight savings over current studs. If projected across all of the studs in a vehicle, the total projected weight can be up to a kilogram less per vehicle!

More Flexibility!
The new stud remains elastic and therefore can react with more flexibility to shear forces.

More Fastening Reliability!
When combined with our new "PIP"-technology for plastic elements, relatively high pulloff forces can be achieved and yet, at the same time, disassembly for servicing or recycling purposes is simple and fast.

More Process Reliability!
The studs are no longer supplied "step-by-step" via
flexible collets but sequentially via a low-maintenance feeding pipe. The improved contact between sleeve and pipe results in increased 'collet' life, less wear and tear with higher weld quality. Down time is decreased, maintenance reduced and replacement parts lowered.

More Safety in the Future!
Currently, concepts are being developed where the stud is applied together with a pre-assembled clip in a single operation. New clip designs with enhanced characteristics will soon be possible. However, many of the current clips can also be attached to the new stud generation without modification.

A newly patented system lies behind the term "PIP". It is as simple as it is effective!

The "PIP"-function is as follows: SPLITFAST stud, as a hollow sleeve, features a longitudinal slit. During assembly of the mating clip the walls are slightly compressed. At final fix phase, a molded pin, incorporated in the clip design, retensions the sleeve to ensure a secure assembly under load conditions.

Depending on the Application: Stud & Clip Well-Connected!

Because of the "PIP"-system the threaded flanks of the stud clamp into the plastic wall of the clip. The clip fits !

For increased clip retention, serrations, featured in the clip design, engage the SPLITFAST stud threadform to guarantee a secure fix, with high pull-off values, and means of disassembly by turning if required. A wide variety of clip designs are possible.
