June 99 - Red Identification Dye on Screw-Lock Inserts

Inch series Screw-Lock Heli-Coil inserts are coated with a red dye to identify it as a Screw-Lock insert. This dye is applied in accordance with the requirements of MS21209. The dye is only an identification. It does not lubricate the insert during installation nor is it a locking compound to anchor the insert into the tapped hole. In certain specialized vacuum applications, there is a concern that the red dye could out-gas. When utilized in these vacuum type applications, specially prepared non-dyed inserts can be made available.
