Finished Forging Series

The Gripco Finished Forging Series, Hot Formed Products are formed by converting roller bar stock into a wide variety of accurate parts, from very simple to complex shapes.

Teamed with automatic bar heaters, these hot formers combine feeding, heating, and forging operations into a fury automated production system starting with bundles of mill length bars at one end and ejecting pierced, precision forgings at the other end.

In operation, heated bars are continually fed to the hot former, cut to length and shaped in three consecutive forging operations. As a rule, the first station is used for preforming, the second for finish-forming and the third for piercing. A finished forging is ejected at each stroke.

Gripco manufactures large, special diameter hexagon nuts and hexagon flange nuts, on hot forming equipment. Prices and samples are available upon request.

Preformed Forging Series

Gripco automatic hot forming is four times faster than conventional forging. Preformed material costs are reduced from those of conventional drop forging, because the automatic hot forging is closer to finish part size (where subsequent machining is required). Since the starting material is in round bar form, the easiest parts to form are those closest to the starting shape: disc, rings, and cylinders. The outer surface of the forgings need not be round, they can be square or hexagon.
