New Application for Volkswagen Group

Emhart is now the supplier for the fastening application for the fixation of all bass loudspeakers in the entire car model ranges of Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda worldwide. The loudspeakers are fixed by using the new POP-VGrip rivet directly on the door or on the door module at the Tier Supplier.

Volkswagen chose Emhart for the VGrip’s technical features which provide considerable savings in part costs and production time. With standard blind rivets an additional washer is needed to grant a safe fixation. The POP-VGrip provides this washer function with its large blind side.  At the same time, no washer handling is needed, thus process safety is improved.  An average of 16 washers per car is saved by Volkswagen using the VGrip rivet.

Emhart adapted the rivet to the application to avoid the interfering edges during the setting process by an extra long mandrel. The excellent clamping capability provides gentle treatment of the components, i.e., no breaking of the speaker housing or door module. Water tightness completes this new application.
